PALM MEADOWS
Golf Course
Greg Norman
represented Palm Meadows as Touring Professional and
his tips in the 1990
Daikyo Cup course guide are a great collector’s item. The course
is flat, but has a series of
interconnected lakes (water on 14 holes)
and strategic bunkering (82 bunkers) to add to the
challenge. Designed by Graham Marsh, the fairways are generous
and played from the regular
tees should provide some encouraging scores.
The finishing hole is one of the best par 5’s in Australia, requiring
an audacious water carry for
big hitters but providing a safer three shot route for others, with a
second water crossing
before the green. Club House bar and restaurants overlook the
18th.
PARADISE SPRINGS Golf Course
Beautifully groomed with lush, very gently undulating to flat fairways
and meticulously
manicured type 328 couch greens. Widely regarded as one of the Gold
Coast’s best –
conditioned courses, the major hazards are the myriad of sparkling
ponds and waterways
that provide both storage and drainage.
There’s a club Comp. Wed & Sat. Visitors with AGU & WGA handicaps are
welcome to join in.
The Club House is a stunning colonial Queenslander design, lunch and
bar open daily.
Breathtaking views over course to hinterland from verandahs.
PARKWOOD INTERNATIONAL Golf Course
Parkwood International mixes the best features of a traditional
Australian golf course with the
Gold Coast Resort style. Set in naturally undulating bushland the
course combines established
eucalypts with imported palm trees. There is a series of lakes and
ponds in play on many holes,
with the ninth green almost surrounded by
water. The elevated clubhouse overlooks eight holes and
visitors will be made most welcome. Competitions are played on
several days. Visiting golfers
welcome to enter.
ROBINA WOODS Golf Course
Designed by Marsh & Watson and opened in 1989, Robina is one of the
best tests of golf in
Australia. The rolling fairways are set amongst stately stands of
towering eucalypts, natural
waterways and lakes. There are some hills to climb, but many golfers
will prefer to walk. The
course has superb drainage and is open year round.
Each hole has its own character, and challenge. The finishing hole is
Robina’s most
recognisable, a par 5 played from an elevated tee via three water
hazards to a well guarded
green. Our advice is "lay up with your second (or third)".
There are full clubhouse facilities, bistro/bar, restaurant and
function room, locker room and
showers. Visitors are welcome every day. Competitions run 7 days
per week with 3 Major
Opens on Mon, Tues & Thur.
